Online student support company eLuma appoints new CEO and more digital health hires

Online special education and mental health services company eLuma has appointed Andy Myers as CEO. 

eLuma, a Leeds Equity Partners company, provides mental health and behavioral support offerings, including speech-language teletherapy, for K-12 schools.

Myers brings expertise in scaling operations to eLuma and previously held positions at learning and mentoring nonprofit Waterford, SaaS learning and analytics company Renaissance Learning, computer software company Scientific Learning, and eTextbooks platform Pearson. 

“I’m honored to lead eLuma and build on its rich history of offering its partner school districts mission-critical solutions that not only streamline inefficient mental health management workflows but also provide students with effective means of navigating their increasingly complex mental health needs. I look forward to partnering closely with Jeremy, the eLuma team, and Leeds Equity Partners as we seek to meet the essential needs of school districts and students across the country,” Myers said in a statement. 


Clinical trials research company Clario has appointed Julia James as chief legal and administrative officer. 

Clario is a Philadelphia-based clinical-trial company specializing in solutions for cardiac safety, medical imaging and respiratory needs.

Julia most recently served at Thermo Fisher Scientific following the company’s acquisition of research organization Pharmaceutical Product Development in 2021. James was brought to Clario for her extensive legal work in clinical trials. 

“Clario plays a pivotal role in the clinical trial ecosystem through the generation of the highest quality evidence and developing transformative technologies. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to join such a high-performing team focused on improving the health of patients around the world,” James said in a statement. 


Kevin Sowers, president of Johns Hopkins Health System, has joined the board of AI-enabled surgical care organization Apella.

Sowers serves as president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Before joining Johns Hopkins, he spent 32 years with the Duke University Health System. 

San Francisco-based Apella’s platform pairs ambient-sensor technology with AI to improve decision-making in surgical operating rooms.

“I am really excited to join the Apella Board at this time of growth. Throughout my nearly 40 years in health care, I have seen firsthand extraordinary advancements in care and service delivery supported by robust data collection and cutting-edge technologies,” said Sowers in a statement.

“Health care leaders have known that AI is coming to the hospital, and Apella has developed a technology that has a real impact today. Apella’s solutions allow health care workers to prioritize spending time tending to patients over entering data.” 


Internet of Things and AI company Brillio announced the appointment of Ashish Singh to its board of directors. 

Brillio is a data analytics, infrastructure and security company. 

Singh currently serves as an advisor at Bain & Company in various capacities and has done so since 2005. He began his career at Bain & Company as leader of its operations in South Asia and India.

At Brillio, Singh will use his extensive healthcare experience to help the company’s clients, including payers, providers and pharmaceutical companies, improve patient outcomes and optimize costs.
